VIEWING HER GARDEN”

This watercolor describes a warm sunny day. Cool shadows under the porch and from the
trees on the right, bright colorful flowers in the foreground, dark background
trees and the figure make for a pleasant summer subject.
Materials: Paper: A quarter sheet of 140 lb good quality watercolor paper: My favorite is TH Saunders Waterford (Purchased at Currys.com . Others to consider are 140lb Windsor & Newton, Arches or Fabriano.
Watercolors: I always recommend artist’s quality. Student quality lacks the intensity needed and can be frustrating, especially for the new artist. My personal favorite is DVP Brand also purchased at Currys.com. Unfortunately deSerres on Barrington Street doesn’t carry them. Windsor & Newton, Grumbacher are also artist’s quality pigments.
Brushes: One inch flat and a #10 round is a good start.
Note: New artists need not bring anything – feel
free to borrow my supplies. Paper can be
purchased at a cost of $2 per sheet.
