“ROCKY SHORE”
This painting is about taking a
conventional subject but painting it using unconventional colors. Using “skim milk” washes, I wet the paper
using pinks, blues, yellows and greens allowing the colors to softly blend
together. As the paper dried, the rocks
and grasses were loosely painted in.
Details came once the paper was completely dry. The final feature is a glaze of cerulean blue
and ultramarine blue.
Brushes: 1” flat, #10 round or any suitable brush of
your choice.
Colors: Full Palette.
(The brand I use is DVP, DiVinci Brand Artist’s
quality but any brand will do).

sheet of 140lb of any good quality watercolor paper – my personal favorite is
TH Saunders – either 200lb or 140lb.

note taking and a hairdryer.
