Topic: “Hollyhocks”
This painting of
Hollyhocks is a reminder of hot sunny summer and will brighten gray December
days.
The method used
is loaded brush, lots of pigment and loose painterly strokes. Negative spaces of green foliage are
seemingly abstract but they complement the bright pink flowers. Final shadows pull it all together.
Colors: Gamboge
yellow, permanent rose, ultramarine blue and Prussian blue (or equivalent
colors)
